CPD hosting community BBQ for East Neighborhood
COLUMBIA, MO (July 13, 2016) - This Saturday, July 16, the Columbia Police Department will host a Neighborhood Barbeque for the East Strategic Plan Neighborhood. The event will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Indian Hills Park located at 5009 Aztec Boulevard.
Officers from the Community Outreach Unit (COU) will be working the grill and serving up smiles to event-goers. Columbia A-1 Rental and Q106.1 are graciously providing bounce houses and music at the event. Water games will also be available and provided by Columbia Parks and Recreation.
On June 29, East Neighborhood COU Officers Phillip Shull and Matt Rodriguez acknowledged a need for this kind of event during a video at the park.
“A lot of people in the neighborhood have mentioned they don’t feel comfortable in the park and in their community, so in an effort to help you all take the community back, we’re going to make the park as safe as we can for you…” said Officer Shull.
This barbecue is the third barbecue that’s been held this year in the Strategic Neighborhoods. We look forward to networking with area residents & working together to build a stronger community.
