Shooting near the 1100 block of Coats Street
COLUMBIA, MO (July 17, 2016) - At approximately 2:20 a.m., Columbia Police officers were responding to a report of a large group trespassing in the 900 block of Business Loop 70 East. While on-scene, officers heard several gunshots fired in the 1100 block of Coats Street.
Officers arrived at Coats Street moments later and observed several vehicles leave the area. Officers located multiple shell casings in the street. A short time later, officers were advised a gunshot wound victim had arrived at a local hospital. Officers made contact with the male victim, 19, who sustained a gunshot wound to his leg. Officers received information that the injury was related to the shots fired in the 1100 block of Coats Street. The investigation is on-going.
