Project impact and project update information is available on the web at - como.gov/fbrs
Construction will begin on June 23 on the Flat Branch Sewer Relief Project 1, which will improve sanitary sewer service and add capacity to a large portion of the downtown area. The investment in our sanitary sewer infrastructure with this project is $3,879,650 and is funded through Sanitary Sewer Utility Capital Improvement funds. Sterling Excavation of Jefferson City is the contractor on the project.
The sewer work will take place near the MKT Trail, which will result in some closures and detours for trail users. It is important for the safety of trail users to follow all posted signs indicating a closure or detour along the trail.
The MKT Trail connectors at E. Clarkson Road (near Grasslands Park) were closed starting June 22 through September 15. A half-mile section of the MKT Trail between the Lakeshore access (mile marker 7.75) and the Garth Avenue connector (mile marker 8.25) will be closed July 6 through August 19. The construction ending dates may change due to weather.
During the closure, trail users can use a detour around the construction by using Lakeshore Drive, Redbud, Edgewood and Lathrop Road. Road detour signs will be in place. (A map of trail closure and detour attached).
As the construction project progresses, additional details will be released via press releases, signs on the trail, social media and the COMO Trails app available for both Android and iPhone users.
We appreciate trail users' patience and understanding while we complete this important infrastructure improvement project.
