Rededication Planned for Woodridge Park
COLUMBIA, MO (May 23, 2016) - Columbia Parks and Recreation is planning a rededication of the renovated Woodridge Park, 3505 Lansing Dr. It will be held from 5-7 p.m. on May 26, with the program beginning at 5:15 p.m.
Improvements at Woodridge Park include a new inclusive playground, featuring ramps, music therapy, a group swing, ground-level features and poured-in-place surfacing. Other park renovations include a single table shelter, council ring and walking trail, with connections to the nearby Ronald McDonald House.
Woodridge Park was selected for the proposed improvements because of its proximity to the Ronald McDonald House, Thompson Center for Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorders and the University of Missouri Women’s and Children’s Hospital. The park provides a relaxing outdoor place with a premier inclusive playground to serve visitors to the hospital and autism center, as well as the surrounding neighborhood.
The dedication will feature an ice cream social, remarks and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Funding for Woodridge Park improvements came from a donation from the Columbia Cosmopolitan Luncheon Club, private donations and a Land and Water Conservation Fund grant.
