Columbia Disabilities Issues Forum scheduled for Oct. 11

COLUMBIA, MO (October 3, 2016) - Since 1995, several disability-related organizations have hosted a Columbia Disabilities Issues Forums to give political candidates for a variety of offices the opportunity to present their ideas to the disability community and to answer questions from citizens who are interested in disability related issues. It is generally one of the best attended election forums in Columbia. 

The Columbia Disabilities Commission and a coalition of local organizations is hosting another Columbia Disabilities Issues Forum for the upcoming state legislature elections:

Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016

Woodhaven, 1403 Hathman Pl

11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The forum will be a discussion with State House and Senate candidates for Districts 44, 45, 46, 47, 50, 19 for the Nov. 8, 2016 election. All candidates have been invited to participate in the forum.

The forum will be a moderated format, each representative or candidate will present an opening statement and the moderator will then pose questions relating to disabilities issues surrounding the community.

Sign language interpreters will be present.

The coalition of local organizations hosting the forum are the following: ACT, Boone County Family Resources, Boone Supported Living, Central Missouri Subcontracting Enterprises, Columbia Disabilities Commission, Easterseals Midwest, Great Plains ADA Center, Job Point, MORE Group, People First of Boone County, TIPS / MoLEND, Services for Independent Living and Woodhaven.
