2016 Citizen Handbook mailed to residents this week
COLUMBIA, MO (October 4, 2016) - The annual Citizen Handbook will arrive in residential mailboxes this week. This is the second year the handbook will reach every residential mailbox in Columbia.
2015 was the first year the Citizen Handbooks were mailed to residents to provide the yearly performance report and to inform residents about the work the City is doing.
“This year, we changed the format rather dramatically. The performance report continues to be the lead story and inspiring community art continues to grace pages throughout the publication. In this edition, the reader then can choose from stories which describe in detail the many ways staff is implementing the 2016-2019 Strategic Plan and how those efforts directly affect the citizens we serve”, said Community Relations Director Steven Sapp.
This year’s handbook highlights the 2016-2019 Strategic Plan and the priorities the City is focusing on: social equity, public safety, infrastructure, economy and operational excellence. The handbook features stories about how the work from the Strategic Plan goals is having a positive impact in the lives of Columbians.
The art featured in the handbook are the submissions from the 2015 City of Columbia Commemorative Poster competition. The cover features the competition’s winner: Tribute to Blind Boone by David Spear.
The City printed 70,000 copies of the handbook and the cost to print and mail the handbooks is just under $1 per copy.
The handbook can be viewed online at CoMo.gov, and copies will be available in the City Hall lobby, at the Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau and other places around town.
