Fire Damages Home on Pendleton Street

COLUMBIA, MO (September 13, 2016) - The Columbia Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire at 6 Pendleton Street on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 10:55am.  Fire crews arrived less than four minutes later and observed fire and smoke coming from the east side of the single family home.

Crews pulled a preconnected hose line and performed an aggressive fire attack.  The incident was brought under control in approximately ten minutes.  Fire crews observed suspicious items while extinguishing the fire and consequently requested a Columbia Police Department detective in addition to a fire investigator.

Fire and police investigators remain on the scene conducting an origin and cause investigation as of this press release. More details will be provided as they become available.

Two adults, one dog and three cats were home at the time of the fire.  The adult occupants and the dog made it out safely.  The cats have not been accounted for.

Seven units from the Columbia Fire Department responded to this call.  There were no reported injuries.

The Columbia Fire Department reminds citizens that smoke alarms save lives.   Test your smoke alarms at least once a month by pressing the test button.  Replace smoke alarm batteries at least once a year.  Replace smoke alarms every ten years.  To ensure adequate protection place smoke alarms in every sleeping room and in common areas on every floor.
