Series will be held in February through April of 2010 to allow the
public a forum to discuss topic related to infill development. Emerging
from the City’s Neighborhood Congress public meetings, the Infill
Workshop Series was created to respond to citizen request for more
information and a forum to discuss the challenges and opportunities of
infill development in the City of Columbia. This series is free and open
to the public. Meeting minutes and materials will be available on the
Planning Department website at: www.GoColumbiaMo.com/Planning
Workshop #1: Tuesday, February 9, 2010
Time: 7:00 PM

Topic - What is infill?
· Introduction to series topics
· Visual Preference Survey
· Community Consensus- Defining terms and types
appropriate for Columbia
Workshop #2: Wednesday, February 24, 2010
Time: 7:00 PM

Topic - Where and when is infill appropriate?
(Tentative Activities)
· Video example from Eugene, Oregon: “Infill
Compatibility Standards”
· Discussion of infrastructure capacity, density,
natural resources, neighborhood characteristics and other key issues
· Discussion of issues associated with different types
of infill (e.g. single-family vs. multi-family; urban core vs. fringe
development; contrast commercial, residential, industrial and
mixed-use)
Workshop #3: Monday, March 8, 2010

Topic –Infill in Practice:Processes, regulation & application
(Tentative Activities)
· Panel Discussion on challenges & opportunities-
multiple perspectives including developers, Architects, planners and
neighborhood leaders
· Group discussion to follow panel discussion
· Walk-through assessment of neighborhoods
