Applications Now Being Accepted for 2014 Most Notable Historic Properties
*COLUMBIA, MO (August 26, 2013)* -
Columbia's Historic Preservation Commission is now taking nominations for
the City's Most Notable Properties for the year 2014. The deadline for
submission is September 30, 2013.
Properties need to be at least 50 years old, located within the City of
Columbia corporate limits, and have architectural or historical
characteristics which contribute to the City's social and/or aesthetic
resources. The properties may be endangered, derelict, recently restored,
or nicely maintained. They may be a private home, public or private
workplace or any other space, public or private. They may be modest or
grand, hidden away or in public view.
Once applications have been received, the Historic Preservation Commission
evaluates the nominations and selects a diverse set of properties which
they believe best represent the above qualities.
Online and downloadable applications are available on the City of
Columbia's website at
http://www.gocolumbiamo.com/community_development/planning/HistoricPropertiesSearch.php.
The application and supporting materials such as photos should be mailed to
the Historic Preservation Commission, c/o City of Columbia Community
Development Department, P.O. Box 6015, Columbia, MO 65205. Applications may
also be dropped off at Community Development's Third Floor Service Center
in City Hall, 701 E. Broadway.
