Blue Thunder Track Club is offering cross country for boys and girls ages
6-14.
Cross country is a great introductory sport, and a way to keep
yourself in shape
for other sports. Also, if your child already loves running, and is energetic,
this would be a great fit. This cross country program is welcome to all
skill levels.
Practices are set for Tuesday & Thursday evenings from 6-7pm as well as
Saturday mornings 10-11am. They are held in local Columbia parks. If some
practices have to be missed, just make up the running on your own time. Meets
will be on weekends around Central Missouri, and the season ends in November.
There will be an opportunity to compete at the regional championship meet
and national championship meet as well to finish the season.
The first practice is set for Tuesday, August 28 at 6pm at Stephen's
Lake Park.
We will meet in the open grassy area on the lower east side of the park
near the small picnic shelter. Middle school students that are
participating on their school's cross country team can start practicing
with us after their final meet to extend their season if they wish.
The cost to join is only $30, and it includes a club tee shirt. Runners would
want to invest in a pair of running shoes, a pair of royal blue running
shorts, and always bring a full water-bottle to practices
Forms can be downloaded at www.bluethundertc.shutterfly.com. Instructions of
how to register are on the website and forms. For more information please
