Announcements/Calendar

A new Central Area Director has been named. Diane Brimer will assume
the responsibility June 28th. She transferred from the East Area.

A St. Louis Cardinals game is scheduled for July 6th. We are working
on getting complimentary Royals and Mavericks tickets.

Volleyball's first practice will be July 24th at the ARC at 8:30
a.m. There was a conflict with a softball tournament so volleyball will
begin one week later.

The Barker family asked if there was going to be a soccer team this
year. Frances said to have a team, 7 players would be needed. To have
a unified team, only one unified person needs to be on the team. A
unified partner must compete on a similar skill level and be in the same
age category as the Special Olympic athletes. Numbers have been down
for soccer because the season was changed from spring to fall. A survey
will be sent out to gather information about the interest level of the
athletes.

Sports camp is July 25-29. Frances will be taking the athletes and be
out of the office. Stacy will be available and in the office if there
are any questions.

An athletic training meeting for coaches is scheduled for July 13th at
the ARC from 6-9 p.m. Sports Injuries and Prevention is the topic.

The Summer Awards Banquet is scheduled for August 13th. It will be
held at the Oakland Park at 4:00-6:00 p.m. We will be able to swim from
6:15-8:15 pm for $1.50 for youth 15 and younger; $2.50 for adults 16 and
older.

The office will be closed July 5th in observance of Independence Day.

Our next meeting will be July 20th at 7:00 p.m. at the ARC.

A Softball Tournament is scheduled for July 26th in Marshall. No other
youth teams have entered to compete, so our T-ball would play our
coach-pitch team. Monday we will decide if it would be worth going.
There may be two district tournaments this year.

The next Fundraising committee Meeting will be Thursday, June 24th at
7:00 p.m. at the ARC.

The Oakland Plaza Lanes are closing their doors on July 31st and is
being demolished.  The Town and Country lanes are not ADA accessible;
they do not have a ramp. We cannot sponsor a sport program if all
athletes cannot participate due to limitations of the facility.

The Bowl for Gold is August 21st at Town and Country. Registration
packets were distributed.

Jan has tickets for sale for a Dodge Durango, made available through
Special Olympics Missouri. The deadline is October first.
