There will be a 5K Run in Columbia, MO on Saturday, May 6, 2006 to
benefit Special Olympics Missouri.  The run will be throughout the MU
campus.  We are in need of 10 or more Special Olympic athletes to
volunteer from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00p.m. to cheer on the runners, pass out
water, and to support this event, espicially since it is happening right
in our own backyard!  This will be a great opportunity to show our
support for those who are helping our program grow.  Please contact
Trish Wallace, either by phone 446-1002, or email 
"pwallace at columbia.k12.m0.us".  I am not sure at this time the final
details such as where we meet, etc. but I will keep you informed.  I
would like our athletes to wear something that has the Special Olympics
logo, or our Col. Parks and Rec. logo of some sort, I realize the
weather might be a factor (hot/cold) so any suggestions would be
helpful.  Please think about volunteering for this, I am sure it will be
fun, and I am sure there will be lots of media, and it's a great way to
keep connected with our community!  Thanks to everyone-I look forward to
