Open House for Renovated Howard Municipal Building
WHAT: The City of Columbia welcomes the public to an informal open
house to view the renovated Howard Municipal Building. Staff will be on
hand to discuss the project, including restoration of a set of murals in
the Municipal Courtroom. Refreshments will be provided.
WHEN: Wednesday, August 9, 2006, 4 * 6 p.m.
WHERE: Howard Municipal Building, 7th and Broadway (southwest corner)
BACKGROUND:
* Opened in 1932, the Howard Building once housed most City
operations.
* The 22,000-square foot space now houses Human Resources, Employee
Health, Parking Utility, Municipal Court, City Prosecutor and conference
rooms.
* The project cost $1.8 million. St. Louis-based Chiodini Associates
served as the architect and United HRB General Contractors, Inc., of
Jefferson City, Mo., was the general contractor.
* Renovation is part of the Citys ongoing plan to improve the
communitys public, capital assets.
