The Vision Sponsors Council on Monday, October 30, 2006 selected 15
volunteer citizens to serve on the Vision Committee and as
Co-facilitators of Citizen Topic Groups. They were among 34 applicants
that were reviewed by Vision Committee Co-chairs M. Dianne Drainer and
Jeffrey Williams who made recommendations to the Vision Sponsors
Council. Those selected are:
* Robert Bailey, Director/Dean, Center for the Study of Dispute
Resolution
* Lynda Baumgartner, owner of Image Technology
* Kevin Brown, Author/Athlete
* Bill Costello, Woodruff Sweitzer
* Tina Ehrhardt, ABC Labs
* Louesa Runge Fine, State Farm Insurance
* Kim Stonecipher-Fisher, New York Life
* Tim Klocko, Stephens College
* Sally Beth Lyon, Columbia Public Schools
* Al Price, retired, Boone County National Bank
* Sarah Read, The Communications Center, Inc.
* B. Daniel Simon, Attorney

* Mary Becky Wagner, Broker-Owner, RealtyNET
* Susan Williams, Dental Hygienist
The co-facilitators will join the Vision Committee that will be
responsible for guiding the community wide visioning process, Imagine
Columbias Future. Fifteen more co-facilitators will be
self-selected once Citizen Topic Groups are identified later this year.
Meetings will begin in January 2007.
The Vision Committee will manage the vision process and write the
vision plan on behalf of the community. Another critical task is
encouraging citizens to attend the two BIG (Big Idea-Gathering) Meetings
set for November 28 and 30. Citizen ideas generated at the BIG Meetings
will lay the foundation for Columbias vision plan.
In addition to Mayor Hindman, Sponsors Council members are Dr. Gerald
Brouder, President of Columbia College; Dr. Phyllis Chase,
Superintendent of Columbia Public Schools; Dr. Brady Deaton, Chancellor,
University of Missouri - Columbia; Dr. Wendy Libby, President of
Stephens College; Keith Schnarre, Boone County Presiding Commissioner;
and Bill Watkins, Columbia City Manager.
BIG (Big Idea-Gathering) Meetings Plan now to attend the one most
convenient for you. Hundreds of citizens will start sharing ideas with
the help of trained discussion leaders in an atmosphere that is
productive, safe and fun:
