Our Vision... Our Future... Our Columbia

Plans for the September 4, 2008 *VISION SHOWCASE* are underway.
The event will run from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Missouri Theatre Center for the Arts.
As the event coincides with Twilight Festival, entertainment and refreshments will be offered.

This is an opportunity to connect, inform and engage the community with vision actions and implementation.

Your help and participation is needed for the following event components!

On With The Show:
This area will feature copies of the vision plan and draft implementation report, introduce plans for establishing a vision commission, provide an overview of visioning to newcomers and collect volunteer and comment cards.
*Casting Call: Volunteers are needed to work this area and to provide newcomers insight on the visioning
process. "Ushers" are also needed to greet people and direct them to other areas of the event.

Lights, Camera, Action:
This area will document current accomplishments and offer a "dialogue cafe" where people can connect ideas with the resources and actions still needed.
*Casting Call: We need volunteers willing to facilitate dialogue tables. We have a lot of room at the
theatre and can accommodate a large number of topics, but we need volunteers to lead the way. What is YOUR area of expertise and concern? Do you have suggestions for partnerships that can help tackle specific goals or strategies? Are you willing to spend an hours or so hosting a table to discuss the idea
and seek input from others on how to move the issue forward?

Note: You can view the current resource inventory at http://thewatchword.files.wordpress.com/2008/08/vision-indexed-projects-and-resources.pdf
(Let us know if your organization has an accomplishment to add to this list!)

Curtain Call:
This relates to the idea of brining everyone back for a Citizen Topic Group reunions.
*Casting Call: Citizen Topic Group members have expressed a desire to get back together and explore ways to connect with other community groups, public and private resources. Volunteers are needed. Can you help pull your group back together? Would you like to have your topic group meet with other topic groups?

Community Spotlight:
This is an opportunity for social and civic organizations and governmental entities to present their goals, share their service mission, project updates and forge new partnerships that will help turn long-range plans into reality. There is no charge to participate, but space is available on a first come basis.
*Casting Call: Volunteers are needed to help solicit booth participants. We could also use a couple of event assistants.

Bonus Feature:
Join us for free entertainment and refreshments!
Casting Call: Do you know a group that would be willing to perform on stage for 10 - 20 minutes?
Do you know someone that is willing to serve as talent manager? (FYI: Thanks to the quality of the
theatre's acoustics, we plan to forego the theatre's sound equipment for this event.)

Playbill:
