To All Visioneers:
You are cordially invited to a Visioning Implementation Open House
Wednesday, July 30, 2008, Activity & Recreation Center (ARC)
1701 West Ash Street, 4:00 - 8:00 p.m.
The Open House will include the following presentations:
“Vision Management and Oversight Entity”
First presentation from 4:15 - 4:45 p.m.; Repeated at 6:15 - 6:45 p.m.
“Initial Visioning Implementation Plan”
First presentation from 5:15 - 5:45 p.m.; Repeated at 7:15 - 7:45 p.m.
These presentations will provide an update on visioning. The primary
focus will be on two of the implementation tasks included in the final
plan as approved by the visioning committee in December 2007 and
accepted by the City Council on February 4, 2008.
First is the establishment of a “Vision Management and Oversight
Entity.”
Second, is the preparation of an “Initial Implementation Plan,”
which will include a grouping of related goals and strategies and an
inventory of ongoing efforts.
There will be opportunities for you to ask questions in between the
presentations and provide feedback during and after the event, including
an online evaluation survey. You will also be invited to join in the
process that will move visioning forward over the next few months.
Visioning Review
Following is a brief overview of what has occurred to date in visioning
process
*The Citizen Topic Groups convened in January 2007.
*Citizen Topic Groups finished their group work in July 2007.
*The “Community Choices” workshop was held in September 2007.
*The Vision Committee reviewed the plan in October 2007.
*The committee drafted and issued a final supplement in December 2007.
*The Sponsor’s Council accepted the plan in January 2008.
*City Council accepted the plan February 4, 2008.
*The City hired me as a vision implementation consultant in April

*I consulted with members of the City Council, former Sponsors’
Council and
Visioning Committee, throughout April and May 2007.
*I made a preliminary report at the June 2008 City Council Retreat.
*Additional steps have been taken by both governmental entities and
private citizens
toward the goals included in the Final Vision Report. These will be
part of July 30 presentations.
*Now, YOUR help and input is needed to move visioning forward at the
July 30 meeting, and at future events later this summer, fall and
winter.
