ATTENTION ARTS ORGANIZATIONS...
The Commission on Cultural Affairs will not meet in December...
The Commission is taking a holiday break. Their regular monthly meetings will start up again on Jan. 8, 4:15 p.m. in the mezzanine conference room of the Daniel Boone Building, 701 E. Broadway; Commission meetings are always open to the public.
New Digs
A reminder that the Office of Cultural Affairs is now located in the Gentry Building, 1 S. 7th Street. The city will host an open house of the newly renovated Gentry and Howard Buildings on Fri., Dec. 1, 5:30 p.m. Enjoy tours, refreshments and entertainment. No RSVP required.
Small Request Funding Reminder & FYI...
The next deadline for Small Requests is Dec. 11...applications will be for the second quarter of funding, Jan. - March. Requests may be for up to $500 and are available only to arts organizations with 501c3 status, though collaborations with other organizations are allowed. Gallery Guide!
After years without one, Columbia has a brand new Gallery Guide, a full-color brochure listing of museums, galleries and other visual arts opportunities. Stop by the OCA or the Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), 300 S. Providence, for a free copy or contact us to have one mailed, 573-874-6386, oca at GoColumbiaMo.com. Plans are to reprint the guide annually to include updates and new venues. A guide to performing arts opportunities is a future goal. Our thanks to the CVB for their generous support of these efforts.
Annual Arts Funding Workshop...
Applications for the citys fiscal year 08 arts funding will be available beginning Jan. 25. Stop by to pick up the application and meet informally with OCA staff anytime 12:30-5:30 p.m. that day, at the Gentry Building, 1 S. 7th Street. If you cant make it on the 25th, contact the OCA to receive the application form and discuss the process; e-mail oca at GoColumbiaMo.com or call 573-874-6386.
