Tree giveaway planned for Saturday
									
	(COLUMBIA, MO) -  The city of Columbia's TreeKeeper volunteers
will give away nearly 1,000 trees this Saturday, April 24, at HyVee,
3100 E. Broadway. The tree giveaway is held in recognition of Arbor Day
and National Volunteer Week.
	The tree giveaway will begin at 9 a.m. and continue until 1 p.m.
or until all trees are distributed. Species included in the giveaway
include black walnut, white oak, bald cypress, flowering dogwood and
redbud. Each person may take up to three trees, each of a different
species.
	TreeKeeper volunteers, who completed a course on tree
identification and care, will be available to answer questions and
provide advice on caring for trees. Forestry staff from the Columbia
Parks & Recreation Department will also be available to provide
information on trees to the public.
	The TreeKeeper program is held annually; the next class will be
held in early 2005. To learn more about the tree giveaway or the
