Office - (573) 874-7330
One lane of University Avenue closed
(COLUMBIA, MO) - Columbia Water and Light will replace an
existing water main line on University Avenue, between College Avenue
and Hitt Street, starting Monday, Dec. 20, from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The
water crews will work on the project Monday through Saturday each week
through Jan. 15.
The work will be done in the westbound lane of University and
will restrict traffic to one lane. Traffic at the intersections of
University with College Avenue, Mathews Street and Hitt Street will be
affected at times. Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route
when possible.
Water service in the area might be disrupted during the water
main replacement process. Customers will be individually notified of any
service disruptions. After the new water main is installed, the water
lines will be flushed. Customers might notice a slight discoloration in
their water when this happens. Those who experience this problem should
let the water run for a few minutes until the discoloration has
disappeared. The water will continue to be safe to drink.
