Temporary closure of Hitt Street between University Avenue and Paquin Street
								
	(COLUMBIA, MO) - The city of Columbia Public Works Department announced today that beginning Tuesday, Dec. 28, at 8 a.m., J.C. Industries, the contractor working for the Columbia Water and Light Department, will begin construction of a water main extension along University Avenue. This work will result in the temporary closure of Hitt Street between University Avenue and Paquin Street. 
	A detour route will be marked as follows: 
*	Southbound Hitt Street traffic should turn west at Elm Street and proceed to Ninth Street. Turn south on Ninth Street and proceed to University Avenue. Turn east on University Avenue and continue to Hitt Street.
*	Northbound Hitt Street traffic should turn west at University Avenue and proceed to Ninth Street. Turn north on Ninth Street and proceed to Elm Street. Turn east on Elm Street and continue to Hitt Street. 
	The work should be completed, weather permitting, and the street should be reopened Friday, Dec. 31, at 3 p.m. Motorists and pedestrians are urged to exercise extreme caution when in the construction area and use an alternate route whenever possible.
