Start construction of East Broadway (Route WW) Improvements Project
								
	(COLUMBIA, MO) - The Public Works Department announced the
beginning construction of the East Broadway (Route WW) Improvements
Project. This project is scheduled to begin Monday, Jan. 3, weather
permitting. 
	Emery Sapp and Sons Inc., of Columbia, was the successful bidder
on the project in the amount of $4,789,783.41. This project will consist
of pavement widening of East Broadway from Old Highway 63 to Brickton
Road, the relocation of the Trimble Road intersection with the addition
of traffic signals at this intersection, the realignment of Jacobs Place
with Green Valley Drive, bridge replacement over Hinkson Creek, storm
drainage piping, a 9-foot wide pedway, 5-foot and 6-foot wide sidewalks,
and other incidental work. 
	It is anticipated that total project construction will be
completed in the winter of 2005. East Broadway will remain open to
traffic throughout the reconstruction; however, temporary delays in
traffic flow as construction progresses should be expected. Care should
be exercised in the construction area and alternate routes should be
used.
