Stephens Lake Park Shelters available for reservation beginning Jan. 3

COLUMBIA, MO (December 29, 2004) -- Shelters at Stephens Lake Park will
be available for reservation beginning Monday, Jan. 3, for dates
beginning Saturday, April 30. To make a reservation, call Parks &
Recreation, 874-7460, or stop by the downtown office at 1 S. 7th
Street.

The following shelters will be available:
Happy Hollow Shelter - This mid-size shelter is located on the east
side of the park on one of the highest points of the park. It is visible
from Broadway. There is a playground by the shelter. Rental Rate is
$28.

Gordon Shelter - This mid-size shelter is located in the center of the
park and overlooks the lake. There is a larger uncovered concrete patio
and there is a playground nearby. Rental Rate is $28.

Collins Shelter - This small shelter is viewed as the sled hill/winter
sports warming area. Therefore, the shelter will not be available for
reservation from Nov. 1-March 30 of each year. During this time,
priority is given to drop-in winter sports users. Reservations during
this time are possible if the projected high temperature is 50 degrees
or more, the requested reservation date is less than three working days
before the reservation and the request is approved by downtown staff.
The Collins Shelter Fire Pit is nearby. Rental Rate is $28.

Stephens Lake Park Island Shelter - This shelter is reservable only by
a Parks Special Use Permit. There will be no picnic tables or grills on
the Island Shelter. Daily Rate will be determined by Park Special Use
Permit needs.
