Start construction of the Fifth & Cherry Sidewalks Improvement Project
(COLUMBIA, MO) - The Public Works Department announced the
beginning of construction of a sidewalk improvement project at the
intersection of South Fifth Street and Cherry Street. This project is
scheduled to begin Monday, July 26, weather permitting. As construction
progresses, portions of this intersection will be reduced to a single
lane. Flag men will be present to assist with traffic control during
working hours and the intersection will be open overnight.
Admire Construction, LLC of Mexico, Mo., was the successful
bidder on the project in the amount of $74,820.00. This project will
consist of the removal of an existing rock storm water culvert to be
replaced with the installation of 38 linear feet of 18-inch reinforced
concrete pipe, 57 linear feet of 15-inch reinforced concrete pipe and 63
linear feet of 12-inch reinforced concrete pipe and storm water inlets.
Construction will also include brick crosswalks and reconstructed
concrete sidewalks with ADA approved ramps, along with other incidental
work.
It is anticipated that construction will be completed by early
October of this year. Care should be exercised in the construction area
and alternate routes should be used.
