Columbia Water and Light celebrates 100 years

COLUMBIA, MO (July 30, 2004) -- Columbia Water and Light is celebrating
its 100 year anniversary on Aug. 1. By maintaining ownership of its own
utility, Columbia has built one of the highest quality, most reliable
and lowest cost utilities in the state. Our publicly owned utility is a
community tradition that has created jobs for our neighbors and added to
the high quality of life we enjoy.

A special publication with details of Water and Light's history is
available in the lobby of City Hall, 701 E. Broadway. A video
chronicling the colorful history of Columbia Water and Light will air on
the Columbia Channel at 7 a.m., 11 a.m., 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. starting the
evening of Aug. 3 and continuing until Aug. 15. The Columbia Channel can
be seen on Mediacom channel 13 and Charter Communications channel 2.
Columbia Water and Light will hold an open house during the first week
of October during Public Power Week.
