Columbia Channel honored in international competition

(COLUMBIA, MO) - The Columbia Channel, the government access
channel for the city of Columbia, was recently awarded two Telly Awards.
Founded in 1978, the Telly awards recognize videos that are produced by
non-network professionals. This year, there were in excess of 10,000
entries from all 50 states and many foreign countries. This year's
competition included entries from firms who produced videos for clients
such as Miramax Films and Target Corporation.
One Telly award, in the commercial category, was for Fire
Factor, a public service announcement for a University of Missouri and
Columbia Fire Department event. In the documentary category, a video
about Columbia's sister city, Kutaisi, the Republic of Georgia
received an award. The documentary had interviews with citizens of
Kutaisi who spent time in Columbia and footage from a Columbia
delegation's visit to the Republic of Georgia in the fall of 2003.
The Columbia Channel is broadcast on Mediacom channel 13 and
Charter Communications channel 2. For more information about the Telly
Awards, see www.tellyawards.com or call (513) 421-1938.
