Boards and commissions applications are available

	(COLUMBIA, MO) -- The Columbia city clerk is accepting
applications for boards and commissions. Applications must be received
by the clerk's office, 701 E. Broadway, 4th Floor, by noon on Friday,
Oct. 8, 2004. Applications are available at the clerk's office or may
be found on the city's Web site at www.GoColumbiaMo.com on the City
Council page. The following are current boards and commissions
openings:

The Building Construction Codes Commission has one vacancy with the
term to expire Aug. 1, 2007. One alternate member (to serve in the
absence of a regular member) is needed from the master plumber category.
The member must be a registered voter. Monthly meetings are on call.

The Community Development Commission has three vacancies with terms to
expire Nov. 1, 2007. One member each is needed from Ward 2 and Ward 3
and one member may be from any ward. All must be registered voters.
Commission members shall not serve on the board of directors or be
employed by any agency which applies for funding through the commission
or which receives funding upon recommendation of the commission. 

The Board of Health has one vacancy with the term to expire Aug. 31,
2005. The member must be a dentist, as well as a registered voter of the
city. Monthly meetings are called by the board.

The Personnel Advisory Board has one vacancy with the term to expire
Sept. 30, 2007. The member shall be registered voter of the city and
shall hold no other lucrative position in city government during his/her
term. The member must have significant, substantive knowledge of social,
legislative, political and administrative factors affecting personnel
management and employee relations.

The Substance Abuse Advisory Commission has three vacancies with two
terms to expire Oct. 31, 2007, and one term for a student to expire Oct.
31, 2005. All members must have demonstrated an interest in and concern
for substance and alcohol abuse problems in the community. The student
member must be under the age of 25 at the time of appointment.
