Swim beach at Stephens Lake Park closed for season

COLUMBIA, MO (October 14, 2004) -- The swim beach at Stephens Lake Park
will be closed to the public from Oct. 15 to April 15. The gates will be
locked and access will be prohibited. The Parks & Recreation Department
will erect a silt fence along the shore line to prevent the sand from
eroding into the lake. The silt fence will also act as a goose
prevention tool and, when combined with several other exclusion actions,
will hopefully reduce the overall goose population at Stephens Lake
Park.
