Free compost samples available at the Farmer's Market

	(COLUMBIA, MO) - The Public Works Department will have free
samples of compost available at the Farmer's Market while supplies
last. 
	The Public Works Volunteer Program will have a booth at the
Farmer's Market on selected dates to give away free sample bags of
compost being sold at the Compost Facility. Stop by the Columbia
Farmer's Market, Ash & Clinkscales, Sept. 11, 8 a.m. to noon or at
the Boone County Farmer's Market, located behind The Marketplace, 1100
I-70 Drive N.W., Oct. 9, 8 a.m. to noon.
	Compost may be purchased from the city's Sanitary Landfill and
Compost Facility located at 5700 Peabody Road (Directions: from
Columbia, go north on Paris Road/Route B to North Brown Station Road to
Peabody Road). Compost is for sale on Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The facility will also be open on the following Saturdays from 8 a.m. to
noon for compost sales: Sept. 4, 18, 25; Oct. 2, 23; and Nov. 6. A
loader will be on-site to assist.
	The fee for one cubic yard is $12 plus tax. A minimum fee of $12
plus tax is required. For quantities greater than 100 cubic yards
purchased in one calendar month, the discount fee is $8 plus tax.
Appointments may be scheduled for loads of 10 cubic yards or more
anytime during the week. For more information, call 474-9145.
