Kids duathlon scheduled

COLUMBIA, MO (September 13, 2004) -- A kids duathlon for boys & girls ages 7-14 will be held Sunday, Oct. 3, at 3015 Lemone Industrial Blvd. The duathlon will start at 3 p.m.

The race route will vary per age category:
7-9 years - ¼ mile run, 1.25 mile bike, ¼ mile run
10-12 years - ½ mile run, 2.5 mile bike, ½ mile run
13-14 years - ½ mile run, 3.75 mile bike, ½ mile run

Awards will be given to all participants. Prizes will be awarded to the winners (boy and girl) of each age division. All participants are required to wear helmets when biking.

There is a $20 registration fee. Call Parks & Recreation, 874-7642 or Tryathletics, 447-2453 for more information. Registration forms are available at the Parks & Recreation office, 1 S. 7th Street, and at Tryathletics, 1607 Chapel Hill. Registrations will be accepted the day of the race.

The kids duathlon is sponsored by Columbia Parks & Recreation and Tryathletics.
