Start construction of Phase II of the Oakland Gravel Road, Brown School
Road and Roger I. Wilson Memorial Drive Intersection Project

	(COLUMBIA, MO) - The Public Works Department announced the
beginning of Phase II construction of the Oakland Gravel Road, Brown
School Road and Roger I. Wilson Memorial Drive Intersection Project. The
project consists of a reconfiguration of the intersection of Oakland
Gravel Road, Brown School Road and Roger I. Wilson Memorial Drive. This
phase is scheduled to begin on Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, weather
permitting.
	Phase I of the project is coming to a close. Roger I. Wilson
Memorial Drive is currently open to the north from the new intersection
with Brown School Road. Brown School Road will remain closed to the west
of the new intersection with R.I. Wilson and Oakland Gravel. Brown
School Road is open from Highway 63 interchange to the new R.I. Wilson
and Oakland Gravel intersection.		
	During Phase II Oakland Gravel Road will be closed south of
Brown School Road for one to two working days to construct the new
connection. Access to Oakland Gravel Road, Arcadia Subdivision and the
Smiley Lane area will be from the south. Detours for access will be
appropriately signed. Following the one to two day closing for the new
connection, Oakland Gravel Road traffic will be able to use the new
alignment north to the intersection with Brown School Road.
	Phase III will begin in a few weeks and will close the west side
of the Highway 63 overpass in order to construct a permanent connection
to the new intersection. Oakland Gravel Road, Roger I. Wilson Road and
Brown School Road to the west of the new intersection will all be open
to traffic during Phase III.
	All detours for the various phases will be announced as
construction progresses with as much notice to the public as possible.
It is anticipated that total project construction will be completed
around the end of October 2004. Care should be exercised in the
construction area and alternate routes with marked detours should be
used.
