Visual artists receive awards at Festival

COLUMBIA, MO (September 27, 2004) -- Artists Dawn Trinkler and Rick
Brazzale received awards at the 13th annual Columbia Festival of the
Arts, held this past weekend, Sept. 25 -26.

Trinkler, a painter from Shawnee, Kan., received the "Best of Show"
award. Brazzale, who creates hand-blown glass works and is from St.
Louis, Mo., was selected for the "Merit Award" which is sponsored by the
city's Commission on Cultural Affairs.

The two were singled out from a field of 50 local and regional artists
who exhibited and sold their work at the Festival Saturday and Sunday. A
variety of media was represented including jewelry, wood, watercolor,
photography, clay, pastels, ceramics, sculpture, mixed media, glass,
printmaking, oil, acrylics, caricature, metal and fiber. Each artist
submitted an application to exhibit at the Festival and was chosen
through a juried process.

The award winners were determined by the visual art co-chairs of the
Festival Steering Committee, Rhonda Hafner and Lili Vianello, and by
Tonya King Ellis, Jo Shaw and Chris Stevens, representatives of the
city's Commission on Cultural Affairs.
