Council swearing in, public reception and work session scheduled

COLUMBIA, MO (April 8, 2005) -- A special City Council meeting is
scheduled for 5 p.m. Monday, April 11, in the Council Chamber, located
on the fourth floor of City Hall, 701 E. Broadway. The meeting will be
aired live on the Columbia Channel, Mediacom channel 13 and Charter
Communications channel 2.

At last Tuesday's election, First Ward Councilperson Almeta Crayton was
reelected and Laura Nauser was elected to serve as councilperson for the
Fifth Ward. Both will be sworn in at the meeting. During the metting,
the mayor will appoint council members to the Cable Television Committee
and the Conley Poor Fund. A mayor pro tempore also will be elected.

A public reception will follow in the Mezzanine Conference Room.

Work Session
Following the public reception, the City Council will meet in a work
session beginning at 6 p.m. in the Council Chamber. The work session
will include a televised presentation on the Avenue of the Columns/First
National Bank project update. Additional items may be included.
