Sidewalks and parking restricted on Eighth Street

(COLUMBIA, MO) - Columbia Water and Light will lay fiber optic
cable along Eighth Street, between Walnut and Locust Street, starting
Monday, Aug. 22. The project will cause restricted access to the
sidewalks, parking spaces and the alleys in the area.
Crews will lay the first section of fiber optic cable along
Eighth Street, from the alley behind the Daniel Boone Building to the
alley south of Boone County National Bank. On Monday, Aug. 29, the
project will continue down Eighth Street to the alley south of the Bank
of America parking lot. The project will be completed by Thursday, Sept.
1, weather permitting.
The fiber optic cable being laid along Eighth Street is being
run from the Daniel Boone Building to the Bank of America building at
Eighth and Cherry streets where the city of Columbia is renting office
space. The cable will allow city staff to access the city's computer
network.
