Blue Ridge Road Project dedication set for Monday
(COLUMBIA, MO) - The city of Columbia announced today that there
will be a ribbon cutting ceremony to dedicate the Blue Ridge Road
Project Monday, Dec. 5, at 9:30 a.m. near the intersection of Blue Ridge
Road and Providence (extended). The public is invited to attend.
Construction on the project started June 20, 2005, and was
funded by STP funding ($877,600), adjacent property owners ($48,000) and
county road tax rebate funds ($171,400).
The contractor was J.C. Industries, Jefferson City, with a bid
of $1,097,182.55. The design engineer was Engineering Surveys & Services
Inc.
This project consisted of the construction of a 41-foot wide
asphaltic cement concrete pavement with Portland cement concrete curb
and gutters, landscape center islands, storm drainage piping, an 8-foot
wide pedway along the south side and a 5-foot wide sidewalk along the
north side and other incidental work. It was designed to accommodate for
future lanes of Providence Road.
