Volunteers sought for First Night 2006
(COLUMBIA, MO) - Volunteers are needed to assist with First
Night, an alcohol-free New Year's Eve event. First Night activities
will be held at locations throughout downtown Columbia on the evening of
Saturday, Dec. 31.
Volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks, including selling
admission buttons, serving as ushers, helping with children's
activities and assisting as stage hands. Volunteer shifts are two to
three hours. Opportunities are also available for youth and families to
help.
First Night activities include music, dance, drama and poetry
with representation from many genres and cultures. Activities are held
at 11 locations throughout downtown.
Volunteers receive a complimentary admission button allowing
them to enter all First Night venues before or after their shift. Anyone
interested in volunteering can contact the city of Columbia's Office
of Volunteer Services at 874-7499 or volunteer at GoColumbiaMo.com.
