Columbia Transit - shuttles to 'First Night',celebrate New Year's
Eve in downtown Columbia
(COLUMBIA, MO) - First Night revelers can catch a quick lift
between events on Columbia Transit's First Night shuttles. This year,
in addition to a route past venues on Ninth Street, a separate route
will take passengers to venues on the Stephens College campus.
Each route will take about 15 minutes to complete its circuit
and passengers can catch the bus at any street corner on the route.
There will also be designated stops at Courthouse Square, the parking
garage at Tenth and Cherry, the First Baptist Church and on Ripley
Street across from Windsor Hall. There is no cost to ride the shuttles.
To help ferry people to and from First Night, Columbia
Transit's regular city routes will run extended hours on New
Year's Eve. The last bus will leave Wabash Station at 12:45 a.m.
The Missouri Theater shuttle route will travel counterclockwise
from Courthouse Square down Eighth Street to Cherry Street. The bus will
turn south on Ninth Street past four First Night venues: Panera Bread
Company, the Columbia Art League, the Missouri
Theater and Missouri United Methodist Church. The route will then turn
up Tenth Street with a stop at the parking garage at Tenth and Cherry
and pass another First Night venue, First Christian Church, on its way
back to Courthouse Square.
The Stephens College campus bus will follow the same route from
Courthouse Square, passing Panera Bread Company, but will continue down
Cherry Street to Hitt Street. The shuttle will turn onto Broadway with a
stop in front of First Baptist Church, another First Night venue. The
route will continue past First Night venue Stamper Commons and turn on
Ripley Street, with a stop by Windsor Hall and Charter Auditorium. The
bus will then return to Courthouse Square, passing First Christian
Church.
