Traffic delays on East Broadway (Route WW)

(COLUMBIA, MO) - The Public Works Department announced that
traffic flow on East Broadway between Old 63 and Brickton Road will be
temporarily reduced to one lane traffic Thursday, Feb. 17, beginning at
9 a.m. and lasting approximately six hours.
Emery Sapp and Sons Inc. of Columbia, Mo., is preparing for the
installation of storm sewer piping which crosses East Broadway in two
locations west of the Hinkson Creek bridge. As part of this
installation, the existing concrete pavement must be sawed to expedite
removals. While the sawing is taking place, the traffic at these
locations will be reduced to one lane. Delays should be expected during
this process. Flag men will be utilized to direct traffic through the
work zone in order to minimize this as best as possible. This phase is
expected to last for approximately six hours at which time normal
traffic flows will be resumed.
On Tuesday, Feb. 22, weather permitting, the contractor will
begin the excavation and installation of storm sewer pipe across East
Broadway. This work is planned to be done at night beginning at 8 p.m.
While this work is being performed, through traffic will be permitted
but will be restricted to one lane. This phase of construction is
expected to last two nights.
Similar work will take place east of the Hinkson Creek bridge at
a later date as construction progresses. The beginning of this will also
be announced prior to starting.
Care should be exercised in the construction area and alternate
routes should be used.
