Blue Ridge Road reconstruction
									
	(COLUMBIA, MO) - The Public Works Department announced the
beginning of the reconstruction of Blue Ridge Road beginning Monday,
June 20. Blue Ridge Road between Dove Drive and Range Line Street (State
Route 763), will be closed to traffic to facilitate the reconstruction
of Blue Ridge Road from the newly constructed roundabout at the
intersection with North Garth Avenue east to Range Line Street (State
Route 763). Access to Dove Drive and Gazelle Drive will be from North
Garth Avenue. The construction is expected to last approximately six
months, weather permitting.
	J. C. Industries, Inc. of Jefferson City, Mo., was the
successful bidder on the project in the amount of $1,097,182.55. This
project will consist of the construction of a 41-foot wide asphaltic
cement concrete pavement with Portland cement concrete curb and gutters,
landscape center islands, storm drainage piping, an 8-foot wide pedway
along the south side and a 5-foot wide sidewalk along the north side,
and other incidental work. 
	It is anticipated that total project construction will be
completed in the late fall of 2005. Detours around this project will be
marked by construction signing and should be utilized. Care should be
exercised in the construction area and alternate routes should be used.
