Start construction of the Ward One Sidewalks Improvement
Project	
								
	(COLUMBIA, MO) - The Public Works Department announced the
beginning of  construction of a sidewalk improvement project at various
locations within the city of Columbia's Council Ward One. This project
is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, March 30, weather permitting. As
construction progresses, portions of sidewalks within this area will be
closed and minor lane restrictions may occur.
	I & I Works, Inc. of Columbia, Mo., was the successful bidder on
these project services. This project will consist of the removal and
reconstruction of hazardous concrete sidewalks and construction of ADA
approved ramps along with other incidental work. Funding for this
project comes from a $50,000 allocation of the annual federal Community
Development Block Grant funds the city receives for public improvements,
low-income housing and community facilities.
	It is anticipated that construction will be completed by mid-May
of this year. Care should be exercised in the construction area and
alternate routes should be used.
