Boards and commissions applications are available
									
	(COLUMBIA, MO) - The Columbia city clerk is accepting
applications for boards and commissions. Applications must be received
by the clerk's office, 701 E. Broadway, 4th Floor, by noon on Friday,
May 6. Applications are available at the clerk's office or may be
found on the city's Web site at www.GoColumbiaMo.com on the City
Council page. The following are current boards and commissions
openings:
*	The Convention & Visitors Advisory Board has one vacancy with
the term to expire Sept. 30, 2006. The member must be an owner or an
operator of a hotel or motel within the city limits and shall have
demonstrated by past activities an interest in the convention and
tourism business. 
*	The Energy & Environment Commission has two vacancies with terms
to expire June 1, 2008. Members must be residents of the city, as well
as a registered voters, and should have knowledge in matters pertaining
to environmental protection. Monthly meetings are the fourth Tuesday at
7 p.m.
*	The Housing Authority has one vacancy to be appointed by the
mayor with the term to expire May 31, 2009. The member must have resided
in the city for five years immediately prior to appointment and must be
a taxpayer. 
*	The Parks & Recreation Commission has two vacancies with terms
to expire May 31, 2008. One member must be a registered voter of Ward 4
and the other may be a registered voter from any ward. Monthly meetings
are the third Thursday at 7 p.m.
*	The Planning & Zoning Commission has two vacancies with terms to
expire May 31, 2010. Members must be registered voters and residents of
the city at least one year immediately prior to appointment and shall
hold no other office or position in city government. Meetings are at 7
p.m. Thursdays following Monday City Council meetings
*	The Board of Plumbing Examiners has two vacancies with terms to
expire May 31, 2007. One member must be a master plumber and the other
must be a layperson. Both must be registered voters. Monthly meetings
are 5 p.m. the last Tuesday of the month.
