County offers prescription discount card to residents
(COLUMBIA, MO) - The county of Boone is introducing a prescription discount card available to all county residents. The card is offered in a joint effort of Boone County and the National Association of Counties (NACo). There is no enrollment fee for county residents and the card may be used anytime a prescription is not covered by insurance. Additional benefits to the card include:
* Average savings of 20 percent
* No limits
* No age requirements - you do NOT need to be a Medicare beneficiary to
enroll
* No income requirements
* Family coverage
An estimated 2,900 Boone County residents are expected to be affected by changes in the Medicaid program as of June 1, 2005. The prescription discount card may be used as a supplement to current insurance or Medicaid coverage.
Cards are available at the following locations in Boone County: Ashland City Hall, Rocheport City Hall, Hallsville City Hall, Centralia City Hall, Sturgeon City Hall, Boone County Commission Office and the Columbia/Boone County Health Department.
More information will be made available at a joint press conference to be held on Wednesday, May 18, at 9 a.m. at the Columbia/Boone County Health Department.
