'Youth In Action' summer volunteer program begins fourth year
									
	(COLUMBIA, MO) - 'Youth In Action,' a summer volunteer program for kids 12-15 years old, is beginning its fourth year. Youth In Action is a great way for young people to make use of extra time during the summer while giving back to the community, learning new skills, making friends and having fun.
	City of Columbia staff organize approximately two volunteer activities each week throughout the summer for youth. The program offers a variety of activities, including helping with Mudstock and Art in the Park, cleaning up litter in streams and along streets, and helping with dog washes to support Second Chance. Youth can select the activities with which they would like to help.  
	The Office of Volunteer Services will host two information sessions on this program: 
*	Tuesday, May 24, from 5 -7 p.m. at City Hall, 701 E. Broadway,
*	Wednesday, June 1, from 5-7 p.m. at the ARC, 1701 W. Ash. 
Both will be held in an "open house" fashion.
