City Kwanzaa Celebration planned

COLUMBIA, MO (November 22, 2005) -- The Columbia Parks and Recreation
Department is teaming up with some area organizations to plan a City
Kwanzaa Celebration. Festivities will take place from 2-5 p.m. on
Saturday, Dec. 3, at Douglass High School Gym (310 North Providence). 

The celebration is free of charge and open to the public. Attendees are
invited to a Business Expo that day from 2-3 p.m. followed by a
Community Awards ceremony from 3-4 p.m. Following the awards ceremony, a
holiday feast will be served from 4-5 p.m.

Traditional African or Afro-centric attire is suggested but not
required. The Kwanzaa celebration is sponsored by the city of Columbia,
Fun City, Columbia Housing Authority and the Frederick Douglass
Coalition.
