Boards and commissions applications are available 
									
	(COLUMBIA, MO) - The Columbia city clerk is accepting applications for boards and commissions. Applications must be received by the clerk's office, 701 E. Broadway, 4th Floor, by noon on Friday, Nov. 4. Applications are available at the clerk's office or may be found on the city's Web site at www.GoColumbiaMo.com on the City Council page. The following are current boards and commissions openings:
*	The Building Construction Codes Commission has two vacancies for alternates with one term (fire prevention) to expire Aug. 1, 2008 and one term (landlord) to expire Aug. 1, 2007. Alternate members serve in the absence of regular members. Monthly meetings are the last Monday at 4:30 p.m.
*	The Community Development Commission has one vacancy with the  term to expire Nov. 1, 2008. The member is needed from Ward 6 and must be registered voter. Commission members shall not serve on the board of directors or be employed by any agency which applies for funding through the commission or which receives funding upon recommendation of the commission. Meetings are on call.
*	The Mayor's Committee on Physical Fitness has four vacancies to be appointed by the mayor. The committee shall educate the public about the importance of regular physical fitness activity and promote, initiate and encourage local physical fitness and sports programs in the community. Monthly meetings are the second Monday at 12:30 p.m. 
*	The Board of Plumbing Examiners has one vacancy with the term to expire May 31, 2007. The member must be a layperson and a registered voter. Monthly meetings are 5 p.m. the last Tuesday of the month.
