Reneé Crosby, 'Mostly in Air Juggling' to entertain audiences at the festival
COLUMBIA, MO (September 13, 2005) -- The city's Office of Cultural Affairs (OCA) has received a grant from the Mid-America Arts Alliance's Heartland Arts Fund. The award will support upcoming performances of juggling by Reneé Crosby at the Columbia Festival of the Arts.
This will be the first time Reneé Crosby has been featured at the Festival. Performance times are 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24, and 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25. Both will occur on the Children's Stage and are free of charge.
Crosby learned to juggle at the Omaha Community Playhouse in 1980. Through meeting with and learning from other jugglers at various regional and national juggling festivals Crosby honed her skills and became a professional juggler in 1982.
Following each of the performances, Crosby will hold a free juggling workshop in the Children's Art Area. Crosby is a skilled juggling instructor and has taught people of all ages how to juggle through private lessons; corporate workshops; classes at the Omaha Community Playhouse, and the Omaha Symphony's Celebrate Creativity Program. She is on the Nebraska Art Council's performing artists roster.
The Columbia performances and workshop are supported by the Heartland Arts Fund, a program of Mid-America Arts Alliance funded by the National Endowment for the Arts with additional contributions from the Missouri Arts Council, Courtney S. Turner Charitable Trust, and foundations, corporations and individuals throughout Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas.
For specific performance times and stage locations, consult the special Festival insert in the Columbia Daily Tribune's Sept. 22 issue, call the OCA at (573) 874-6386, e-mail Festival at GoColumbiaMo.com, or log on to www.GoColumbiaMo.com (GoWord: GoArtsFestival).
