FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Mayor appoints Nuisance Party and Property Task Force
COLUMBIA, MO (September 19, 2005) -- Mayor Darwin Hindman announced the
appointment of a Nuisance Party and Property Task Force to review the
problems of loud parties and chronic nuisance properties.
The task force will review the problem of loud parties that disrupt the
peace and quiet of neighboring residents and that frequently involve
other city ordinance violations. The city's Law Department has drafted
a proposed nuisance party ordinance. They also will review a draft
chronic nuisance property ordinance that was provided by the Smithton
Valley Neighborhood Association and the North Central Neighborhood
Association and a draft prepared by the city's Law Department.
"After receiving input from the City Council and a careful search, I
have appointed excellent members to this task force who will represent
various interests that must be considered in any change to our nuisance
ordinances affecting property," said Hindman. "I look forward to the
first meeting with the task force and working with these excellent
people to see if improvements can be made to our ordinances."
The task force will be chaired by Stephen Reichlin. Other members are:
Karen Cupp, Nancy Holliday, Curt Kirtley, Kimberly Lakin, Cavanaugh
Noce, Ben Orzeske and Linda Rootes.
