Mesa Air Group executive will visit Columbia

COLUMBIA, MO (August 24, 2006) -- On the heels of Mesa Air Group’s
recent announcement of new service to Columbia Regional Airport, Mickey
Bowman, the company’s vice president for planning, will visit the
community next week.

“We’re excited about this new opportunity to improve air service in
Columbia,” said City Manager Bill Watkins. “Mr. Bowman will be
introduced in the community and be available for reporters’ questions
at the start of my news conference on Thursday, Aug. 31.”

(SPECIAL NOTE: THE CITY MANAGER’S REGULAR NEWS CONFERENCE WILL BE
HELD ON THURSDAY, AUGUST 31, STARTING AT 9 A.M. THE NEWS CONFERENCE
NORMALLY IS SCHEDULED AT 9:30 A.M. ON THE FRIDAY BEFORE A COUNCIL
MEETING.)

Watkins said that he wants to continue making the best possible case
for a diverse menu of flights and services. “It’s definitely a
two-way relationship between customers and the airline, and it takes a
united, community effort.”

“Good, frequent communication is one strategy to help assure that our
air service can support the kind of economic development we envision
coming out of Discovery Ridge, local commercial growth and convention
business.”

Mesa Air Group will begin commercial airline operations at Columbia
Regional Airport as US Airways Express, effective Oct. 5. The airline
will offer 12 nonstop flights to St. Louis Lambert International Airport
and 12 nonstop flights to Kansas City International Airport. One-way
fare to both destinations is $59. Round trip fare is $118.
