'Corridor' partners will meet downtown, talk with consultant
COLUMBIA, MO (August 28, 2006) --
WHAT: Informal, public session with light refreshments
WHEN: Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006; 7- 9 p.m.
WHERE: Top Floor, Tiger Hotel, 23 S. 8th Street
The city of Columbia, University of Missouri and Stephens College will
host a public session to discuss potential opportunities to beautify,
develop and add value to the Elm Street corridor. The area runs east and
west between Providence Road and the eastern edge of the Stephens
College campus.
The partners will meet with Sasaki Associates Inc., a consulting firm
with a history of helping towns and gowns collaborate on mutual
interests. Representatives of area businesses, churches and other
organizations are expected to attend.
According to City Manager Bill Watkins, this is a first-time venture
among the three partners. Were very pleased to be part of this
effort to create special opportunities in downtown Columbia. Its a
break from business-as-usual*something that I hope will be a
positive model for the future.
