City Kwanzaa celebration rescheduled

COLUMBIA, MO (December 6, 2006) -- The Columbia Parks and Recreation Department has rescheduled the city’s Kwanzaa celebration for Saturday, Dec. 16. The event was originally planned for Dec. 2 but was cancelled due to the weather. 

Festivities will take place from 2-5 p.m. on the 16th at Douglass High School Gym (310 North Providence). 

The celebration is free of charge and open to the public. 

Traditional African or Afro-centric attire is suggested but not required. The Kwanzaa celebration is sponsored by the city of Columbia, Fun City, Columbia Housing Authority and the Frederick Douglass Coalition.
