Bike, Walk & Wheel Week announces new coordinator

(COLUMBIA, MO) - Columbia’s annual Mayor’s Challenge: Bike,
Walk & Wheel Week (BWWW) announces a new coordinator to oversee the
events for 2007.
Janet Godon will begin work on January 2, 2007. Her duties will
include coordinating all events, fundraising and communicating the goals
of the week to the community as a whole.
Godon has a bachelor’s degree in recreation and park
administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She also has
experience with special event planning and marketing from her previous
positions with The North Face Inc. and the Steamboat Springs Chamber
Resort Association.
Godon will be taking over the BWWW coordinator position from
Judy Knudson, who is stepping down from the position after five great
years of service. Knudson is pursuing personal interests in 2007.
Mark your calendars for May 12-19, 2007. Participation continues
to grow for this annual weeklong event, from approximately 750 in 2002
to approximately 2,400 in 2006.
Bike, Walk & Wheel Week is an opportunity for Columbia to:
*	encourage community members to walk, bicycle or wheel to and
from their destinations,
*	increase awareness of the importance of regular physical
activity,

*	mobilize communities to work together to create safe routes.
